I can crawl!

I am still growing super fast and have mastered sitting up and crawling. Before long I will gain my balance and start walking. Look out world, here I run!

I visited the Philadelphia Zoo with mommy and friends last week and saw lions, tigers and bears...a polar bear. I also saw a zebra and some elephants. They smelled worse than my stinky diapers! It was a fun day.

My first Spring!

Today is the first day of spring, according to my mommy and the guy on the news. We went to the flower market to buy some smelly flowers that mommy said were called hyacinths. She planted one outside in a box and brought the others inside for something called Easter.

I keep hearing about this thing called Easter and the bunny. Mommy even took me to the mall to meet the bunny. He/she/it was very nice and fuzzy. Here is my photo with the bunny.

I am wearing one of the sweaters mommy knit for me. It is starting to be too small, so she better start knitting me a few new ones!

I have been growing very fast and keeping mommy busy every day. That is why we haven't had time to post as frequently as we would have liked. Right now I am enjoying my new jumperoo that mommy and daddy picked up for me over the weekend past. It makes neat sounds and lights up.

Above is a photo of me from when it snowed last month. We had a mild winter, so it was my only opportunity to try to make a snow angel. My snowsuit did not allow me to move my arms, though, so I made a snow blob instead. It was really cold! I'm glad it is nicer out now so that we can play outside more!

Oh well, that is all that is exciting for now! TTFN!

Happy New Year to me

My first new year's eve was rather exciting. Mommy and daddy went to bed sort of early--not much partiers, ya know. I refused to sleep in the co-sleeper, so I slept on mommy. At some point during the night, I decided to relocate my little body to be next to daddy's back and snuggle with him. Of course he didn't know it. Lucky for me that he didn't roll over on me! When mommy woke up and realized that I wasn't where she left me she screamed. I didn't hear her, but she managed to find me and scoop me up. That was the last night for me in their bed or their room. Since January first, I've slept in my own new crib. I fought mommy about it for a while, but now I'm doing fine. I can even sleep up to seven or eight hours at a time! Mommy and daddy are both very happy about it and mommy is actually less cranky now. I still don't love being put down at night, but it isn't too bad. Now napping is a different story...

Here I am enjoying my crib entertainment system.

Just chillin'

Mom decided to photograph me while taking a bath. As you can see, I was less than thrilled with having a photo session while indisposed. Thankfully she is not posting a completely humiliating photo of my "jewels" hanging out. I really do like the bath. The warm water is fun and it is nice getting my head/hair washed with that lavender stuff she uses. Mom usually spends the rest of the day smelling my head and telling me that I smell good. It's the little things that count. I'll have to remember this when I'm a teen and dating--note to self, girls like it when boys smell good.

Here in a more comfortable moment I am posing for a photo in my brown bear outfit. You can't see my feet, but they have little bears on them too. When I'm 14 this will so not be cool.

I've kept mommy busy lately by throwing appropriately surprising fits here and there, just when she is getting into doing something productive. Today, it took her all day to bake a batch of cookies because I would not let her get through more than one sheet of cookies baked at a time. Eventually she got all the cookies baked--they smelled good--gingersnaps. She promised that when I am old enough to chew, I can have one and even help make them someday.

This week I've decided that it is ok to sleep alone for half of the night. After about two hours in my co-sleeper bassinet I've had enought, though, and need to be cuddled. Mommy seems ok with that, although waking up every few hours really makes her grumpy.

My 'rents moved my pack n' play this week and replaced it with a green sparkly thing. They keep telling me that some dude named Santa is coming, but I don't really get it. We keep getting lots of cards from people too. Some have photos--they are fun to look at, especially if there are babies in the photos.

Mommy found a cool new website--her friend sent her a link to it. It has all kinds of neat toys from Europe. Mommy doesn't like toys that require batteries because she thinks they do not help with imaginative play. Apparently she thinks I will enjoy wooden toys forever. Thankfully I have daddy to hook me up with video game systems.

Dear Santa

What I want for Christmas, by Andrew.

1. new onesies. my current ones are getting tight.

2. a car. it's never too soon to start asking, right?

3. a laptop with dvd.

4. some shoes.

5. more books.

6. a cookie to go with all that milk they keep feeding me.

That's all I need this year. I'm not big enough to really play with things.

Thanks Santa!

Love,

Andrew

I've been Shot!

So today I suffered through my first round of vaccinations and yet another visit to the pediatrician's office. I got to meet Jenny, the PA at the office, who was very nice. It turns out I am growing just fine and mommy needs to cool it with her anxiety that something is wrong. I weighed in at a nice 12 lbs., 5 oz.--that is a whole four pounds that I've gained since birth! It is on track with what I gained in-utero those last few weeks of half a pound a week. I am 22 and a quarter inches long--sort of short, I suppose, but still cute. My head is a whopping 16 1/8"! I always thought the adults around me had big heads--I guess I've got one too.

So on to the shots--not fun! Two in one leg, one in the other and some sweet stuff in my mouth. Daddy was nice enough to help me out and keep my hands out of the way of that needle. Mommy just hid behind him--she hates to hear me cry. Afterwards, I fell asleep and stayed that way while we went shopping at Whole Foods for probiotics for me. The thrush in my mouth won't go away and mommy wants to try a natural/holistic treatment before putting me on medication that will affect my liver. I've got two months to go before I have to get more shots. Yuck!

So last night I slept briefly in my co-sleeper. I really prefer to be with mommy at night. The doctor/PA said I still have an immature nervous system, which is probably why I am so jumpy, especially when sleeping alone. I took offense to the immature crack, but Jenny was nice, so I'll let it go.

Because of my shots, I am very sleepy and just a bit cranky. Sleeping in my sling helps.

Last Sunday my daddy spent the day "playing" with the leaves in our yard. He doesn't like how many leaves there are, but I think it's cool. The 'rents wouldn't let me out of my infant seat to roll in the leaves, so I had to put up with just observing all of the cool piles of leaves. Mommy keeps promising that someday I'll get to help rake the leaves too.

My Halloween experience

Yes, my mommy is a knitter. She made me this hat while I was still growing and kicking her in the bladder. That may be why she made me wear this hat--I pushed it too far with the head butting of her organs. She, and my daddy-o, further tortured me by making me go to the pumpkin patch. They woke me up to experience the whole Great Pumpkin thing. Let's just say I didn't like it. I can't eat candy yet, so why torture me with pumpkins?

See what I mean--absolute torture.
